Southampton Water

Ocean Village is situated in the shelter of Southampton water and right in the heart of Southampton.It is surrounded by a wealth of shops, restaurants, bars and cinemas offering outstanding recreational facilities.

Overlooking the marina is the Royal Southampton Yacht Club which although a members club offers berth holders and visitors a warm and friendly welcome.

The basin formerly used for used for commercial ships is deep enough to offer facilities for the largest of yacht.

From the marina, there is direct access to superb and varied cruising.

Whether you want to visit one of the best UK art galleries outside London or fancy catching a blockbusting musical, Southampton is place to come to.

The city is home to some of the region’s best concert halls and venues, boasting three outstanding art galleries and two magnificent theaters.

General Access Info:

  • Southampton water stretches for 6 miles and is well protected in all but strong S/E winds
  • All craft should heed the priority given to commercial traffic
  • There is an area of concern between the entrance of Southampton Water and Cowes. Any vessel over 150m must be given a moving prohibited zone of 1000m ahead and 100m either side
  • The turning point around West Bramble and Calshot Spit is particularly restricted
  • Double HW occurs at Springs about 2 hrs apart, while at Neaps there is a long stand.
  • MHWS: 4.5m; MHWN:3.7m; MLWN: 1.8m; MLWS: 0.5m

  • Tie up on the dock office pontoon to be allocated a berth if you haven’t called ahead
Shamrock Quay : 02380 229461 / VHF Ch 80

  • Located up stream of the Itchen Bridge
  • Easy access 24 hrs a day
Hythe : 023 8020 7073 / VHF Ch 80

  • Situated on the Western shore of Southampton Water Hythe is approached via a dredged channel leading to a lock basin.

  • Water & Electricity on the pontoons
  • Good toilet & shower facilities
  • On site Tesco Metro
  • Southampton City is a short bus ride away or about a 30 min walk
Shamrock Quay :

  • The marina office sells basic provisions , the nearest store is the Tesco Metro in Ocean Village
  • Southampton centre is approx 2 miles away / 30 – 40 mins walk
  • There is an onsite bar and restaurant
Hythe :

  • Water & Electricity on the pontoons
  • Fuel, Ice & Gas
  • Good shower and toilet facilities
  • There is a small shop for essential provisions, Hythe Village is about a 5 min walk away
  • There are a couple of restaurants on site
