Osborne bay is on the North east Coast of the Isle of Wight to the East of Cowes.
It makes a perfect lunch stop at anchor and can provide spectacular views of sailing at its finest.
A chance here to swim from the stern of your yacht or laze on deck and watch the world go by.
The sea bed is a mixture of mud and sand and offers good holding. It is very popular in the summer but it is a large anchorage and there is plenty of room.
It is a fairly sheltered but only offers a private beach and as such no landing is permitted.
Osborne Bay is overlooked by Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s summer residence. The house was built between 1845 & 1851 as a summer house and rural retreat.
The beach is where Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert swam.
Just around the corner on the north east point of East Cowes is Norris Castle. Built in 1790 by James Wyatt it was actually built to look like a castle, but this was only for show as there are no actual fortifications. Queen Victoria stayed here when she was young before purchasing Osborne House.
